The Nitty-Gritty on Power When we’re picking a lamp, we’re really looking at how much heat you need hitting every square inch of your part. More wattage equals a heavier thermal load. Here’s a pro tip: we lean toward high-voltage setups. It lets us keep the power high but the current low, which means you don’t have to run massive, chunky wires through your control panels. Just keep an eye on your transformers. If they aren’t rated for the voltage drop of your specific lamp length, you’ll end up with “cold spots” and uneven heating. Not a good look. Build Quality and the “Danger Zone” The filament lives inside high-purity quartz glass. Depending on what you’re heating, we might add a coating to the tube. Some coatings push the heat deeper into the material; others bounce it back to keep the lamp from cooking itself. Then there are the connectors—usually R7s or SK15.
