The Truth About Our 1200W Carbon Fiber Emitters
We built these 220V 1200W lamps for the tough jobs—the kind of high-heat situations where standard quartz tubes just give up and snap. The secret is in the heating element. We swapped out the old-school tungsten for carbon fiber. It changes how the heat is emitted, which means you can push way more energy into your material without worrying about a fragile filament popping the second things get intense.
Let’s talk power
At 1200W and 220V, these things ramp up fast. Really fast. You’ll mostly see these in PET blowing stations or mid-sized curing ovens where you can’t afford to wait around for things to warm up. We stuck with 220V for a reason: it keeps the current draw under control. Nobody wants to deal with overheating wires or a tripped breaker right in the middle of a production run.
Why the weird colors? (Ruby, White, and Gold)
If you look at the “clear ruby half white/gold” setup, it might look like we’re just playing with colors. We aren’t. It’s all about controlling the heat. The ruby coating is there to filter out those harsh short-wave frequencies. It stops your sensitive materials from scorching on the surface. Then there’s the white and gold split. The gold part bounces heat back or steers it toward a specific spot, while the white part spreads the energy out. It’s a simple way to stop those annoying “hot spots” that warp your parts.
A few tips from the shop floor
Look, carbon fiber is a tank compared to tungsten, but it’s not invincible. Keep your reflectors polished. If they get pitted or oxidized, that gold coating can’t do its job. The lamp ends up running hotter than it should, and you’ll kill the emitter a lot sooner than necessary. One last thing: use high-temp leads when you wire these up. Trust me, you don’t want to find out the hard way that your insulation has melted right at the terminals.
